APS 6 Senior WHS Advisor
  • 3 month initial contract with possibility of extension
  • Mandatory Baseline Security Clearance required
  • Cert IV or Diploma in WHS highly desirable
Our Government client is seeking an experienced APS 6 Senior WHS Advisor to provide Work Health and Safety advice and support to the management team, and employees of the department.
Your responsibilities:
  • Monitor, review, research and report on areas of improvement relating to WHS
  • Actively participating in the WHS section and promoting innovation and best practice with all activities
  • Facilitate, support and oversee processes to ensure legislative compliance
  • Be a department representative at meetings, conferences and seminars as required
  • Provide specialist WHS technical advice, support and participate in WHS projects
  • Working with relevant areas to provide accurate department and legislative WHS advise on local procurement and contracts as required
  • Review and assist in the management of incidents
  • Providing support to internal and external auditors
  • Manage WHS information using the records management system
Your background:
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the APS
  • Experience in hazard identification and WHS Risk Management
  • Demonstrated experience in WHS including understanding legislation, inspection reports and delivering of initiatives designed to prevent injury, illness and harm
  • Ability to build strong effective working relationships
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Hold a Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety – Highly Desirable
  • Current Baseline Security Clearance - mandatory
  • Successful applicant may be required to obtain a Aviation Security Identification Card
