You will have experience in:

  • Assisting with strategic planning, mapping and modelling development;
  • Working with multiple stakeholder groups with different needs, views and competing priorities;
  • Leading a gap-analysis to determine whether any of the existing capabilities held within the integrated Portfolio can meet the requirements for a future visualisation capability;
  • Identifying and conveying (orally and in writing) the objective of a business need to the appropriate stakeholder level – enterprise, programme, operational and project levels;
  • With business stakeholders, prioritising each business requirement according to its merits of enhancing business efficacy;
  • In consultation with business and ICT stakeholders, developing innovative solutions to identified business challenges;
  • Supporting the development of effective working relationships with stakeholders and including qualities such as ethics, trustworthiness and personal organisation;
  • Utilising team and/or technical leadership skills to achieve the identified work area outcomes;
  • Organising, facilitating and co-facilitating workshops to extract business requirements and defining new or improved business processes;
  • Defining and documenting new business practices and processes in a consistent and easily understood manner and facilitating the agreement and sign-off of these with appropriate stakeholders;
  • Assisting with reporting, and display an in-depth knowledge of the report development lifecycle;
  • Developing positive team ethos within the immediate workgroup through positive participation and communication.

You will be required to deliver the following documentation:

  • Business Specifications;
  • Functional Specifications;
  • Defect Resolution Specifications;
  • Technical Specifications;
  • Risk Management Plans;
  • Requirements Management Plans;
  • Use Case model and Use Case Specifications;
  • High level and detailed business requirements documents.
  • Other documentation as required.

You will need to meet the mandatory criteria:

  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Minimum of 3 years’ specific Business Analyst experience;
  • Ability to analyse and document functional and non-functional requirements;
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to gather, assimilate, synthesize and document requirement specifications;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of analysis, modelling and requirements management tools;
  • Excellent communications skills;
  • Experience in preparing information for a range of audiences;
  • You must hold a current Australian Government Security Clearance (AGSVA) or be willing to undergo and obtain an AGSVA clearance (Note: Positions available will either require a Baseline or Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance as a minimum);
  • You must be willing to undergo and obtain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC);
  • Must be willing to relocate to Canberra if applicable.

Other desirable criteria (not mandatory):

  • Sparx EA tool;
  • Business analysis in the Pega environment;
  • BPM/UML modelling notation and methods;
  • Microsoft Office products and visual mapping tools (eg Visio);
  • Understanding of SQL and other query or reporting languages;
  • User acceptance testing and designing and delivering end-user training;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline;
  • Business Analyst Body of Knowledge (BABOK) or related certification.
