Senior Mine Geologist

Rubicor Technical are seeking on behalf of our client, a Brisbane based Mining company with interests in Pacific Islands, Australia and Asia, an experienced Senior Mine Geologist for their interests in the pacific. This role will report into the Technical Manager and will be responsible for managing Geologists and Contractors as required.
 
The key focus of the role:
  • Leads the grade control activities, from planning and extraction reconciliations.
  • Leads the brownfields resource definition and maintain the pipeline of accurate data for medium to long term mine planning.
  • The position holder will be lined up for Competent Person reporting responsibilities. 
 
About you:
  • Circa 15 years’ experience with previous expatriate experience and a minimum of 10 years of mine production experience (commodity not important but Bauxite, Ni Laterite beneficial).
  • Tertiary qualification in earth science.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated skills in geology and mine planning software such as Surpac.
  • High level technical skills related to budgeting, cost control, compliance and commercial awareness.
  • Skills and experience commensurate with the requirements of the JORC code for Competent Person.
  • Knowledge and use of field equipment such as GPS and XRF analysers.
  • A detailed understanding of analytical chemistry ad assaying methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Very good written and oral English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff training and development.
  • Awareness, understanding and demonstrated capacity to comply with workplace health and safety requirements
 
This is a FIFO role, based on site in the Pacific. Roster TBC.
